St. John's wort - medicinal herb, part of Vertera products

St. John's wort (Hypericum Perforatum), known to our ancestors for centuries, is an herbaceous plant of the bellflower family. Below the soil surface, its root spreads horizontally. Its stem reaches 20 to 100 cm above the ground. It is quite branched at the top, where its flower is located.

Active substances

It contains essential oils, which in turn contain azulene. It is an unsaturated hydrocarbon that has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and soothing effects. It is quite commonly used in cosmetic products due to its moisturising and skin regeneration accelerating properties.

It also contains tannins. They are a natural antibiotic and fight inflammatory processes. It has a beneficial effect when taken during a cold or flu.

Flavonoids - they contribute to proper digestion, strengthen blood vessels and cleanses the bile ducts.

What does it help?

Sores and wounds, burns, scars and redness

Putting St. John's wort oil on a wound acts as a blood-sparing agent, soothes pain and speeds up the healing process of the skin.

Kidney problems

The intake of tea from the herb has a diuretic effect. In other words, it helps to excrete more urine, and with it, toxins and bacteria are eliminated. St. John's wort extract helps to deal with inflammation, reduces the load on the kidneys and strengthens the immune system.
