Sun protection - not only on the beach. That's why it's important every day

When we hear the word sunscreen, most of us imagine the beach, the sea and a bottle of SPF 50 lotion. But the truth is that UV rays don't just affect us during the summer holidays - they're around us all year round, even on cloudy days and in the city. Taking care of our skin from the sun is not only a cosmetic issue, but also a health issue that affects each and every one of us.

What are UV rays?

The sun emits ultraviolet (UV) rays, which are mainly of two types:

  • UVA - penetrate deeper into the skin and are responsible for premature aging and the appearance of wrinkles. They are present all year round, even through glass.
  • UVB - cause burning and damage to the superficial layers of the skin. They are strongest in summer and between 10:00 and 16:00.

Both are factors in the development of skin cancer, including melanoma, the most dangerous form.

Sun protection in everyday life - why is it necessary?

  • Urban conditions - skin is exposed to UV rays, even when you're on your way to work, in the car or in the park.
  • Winter is no protection - snow reflects up to 80% of UV rays, increasing exposure.
  • Cloudy weather - up to 80% of UV rays pass through the clouds.
  • Working to a window? UVA penetrates through the glass.

That's why sunscreen should be part of your skincare routine - not just at the beach, but every day.

How to choose the right sunscreen?

1. Use a broad-spectrum SPF - which protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
2. SPF 30 or higher - for everyday use.
3. Light texture for face - cream, gel or fluid that does not clog pores.
4. Suitable for your skin type - has products for oily, dry, sensitive skin.
5. Waterproof for sports or sweating - especially if you are active.

🕶️ Tips for good protection throughout the day

  • Apply sunscreen every morning, even on cloudy days.
  • Repeat application every 2-3 hoursif you're out.
  • Wear a hat, sunglasses and clothing with UV protection, especially with long exposure.
  • Use a lip balm with SPF.

The protection also applies to children

Children's skin is much more sensitive and susceptible to damage. Use special children's sunscreens with mineral filters, free of fragrances and allergens. Direct sun exposure for children under 1 year should be avoided completely.

Sun protection is a daily concern, not a seasonal need. By incorporating sunscreen into your routine, you're not just protecting your skin from burning - you're investing in its long-term health, youth and beauty.

Remember: better to protect than to cure.
