Laminaria - a type of brown algae

There are between 1,500 and 2,000 species of brown algae. They are common in cold ocean and marine waters. They are a valuable food for humans and especially popular in Japan. There, the population has the lowest rate of suffering from cancer and cardiovascular diseases, precisely because of the use of brown seaweeds. Their composition includes : protein, pectin, alginic acid and fucoidan, which make brown seaweed so useful. The species Laminaria is common in the northern seas and has a lifespan of 3 to 4 years.

What is kelp?

Laminaria is a species of brown seaweed that thrives in the cold waters of the Arctic Ocean, the White Sea, the Archangel Seas and the Solovetsky Islands. It is also known as sea cabbage or kelp. This type of seaweed grows up to 50m deep and reaches a size of up to 30m long. After scientific research, it was found that Laminaria has a similar composition to the composition of human blood plasma.

Algae Laminaria contain :

  • 20 amino acids;
  • Vitamins A, B, C, D, E;
  • Micro- and macronutrients such as potassium, sodium, phosphorus and zinc;
  • Omega 3 and 6;
  • Fucoidan - the polysaccharide that can only be found in the cell walls of brown algae. It has proven antioxidant, anticancer, antithrombotic and immunomodulatory effects. Fucoidan is also used with cosmetics. It fights dryness of the skin, restores its cells, protection from the effects of ultraviolet rays and is an assistant in the fight against wrinkles.
  • Alginic acid is a two-part polymer. Salts of alginic acid have antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal property. It is the reason for the gelling of Vertera gels. When taken, it forms a protective film in the intestine and prevents heavy metals and radionuclides from entering the bloodstream. Vertera manufactures its products by low temperature processing. This is to preserve the alginic acid, which would break down at high temperature. As a curious fact, it may be mentioned that alginic acid retains in itself and removes from the body 300 molecules of heavy metals.

The unique and unparalleled chemical properties of brown algae are the reason for the removal of heavy metals from the body. With the help of kelp Laminaria radionuclides such as Strontium-90, can be detoxified. Thanks to them, the body does not remain exposed to the internal radiation from Strontium-90. Laminaria algae are rich in organic iodine. The intake of Vertera gel will favor thyroid function.

All Vertera products are based on brown Laminaria algae. They are 100% organic product that is created through a special technology owned by the company. Through processing, the cell envelope of the plant is opened and a homogeneous molecular mixture is obtained. The gels are absorbed by the body 90% thanks to the special extraction technology.
